Gaming Should Enhance Your Life, Not Complicate It

At w4lyf, responsible gaming isn't a regulatory formality. It's a genuine part of how we built this platform and how we think about our relationship with every Filipino player who signs up.

The reality is that for most people, online gaming is an enjoyable pastime — a way to unwind after a long week, add some excitement to a PBA game, or enjoy a few hands of Tongits. That's exactly what it should be. But we also know that for a small number of players, gaming can stop being entertainment and start causing real problems — financially, emotionally, and within families.

w4lyf exists to serve Filipino players well, and that means being honest about the risks and giving everyone the tools to play on their own terms. This page explains those tools, how to use them, and how to recognise when gaming might be crossing a line — for yourself or someone you care about.

"We'd rather have a player set a deposit limit and enjoy w4lyf for years than chase losses and leave the platform with regret."

Tools Available to Every w4lyf Player

All of these responsible gaming tools are built into your w4lyf account settings. You don't need to contact support to use them — though support is always there if you want help.

Deposit Limits

Set a maximum amount you can deposit per day, per week, or per month. Reductions take effect immediately. Increases are subject to a 24-hour review period so you can't impulsively raise your own limit in the heat of the moment.

Session Time Reminders

Choose how long you want to play in one sitting — 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or a custom time. When your limit is reached, w4lyf sends a clear notification reminding you to take a break. No automatic lock-out, just a nudge.

Cooling-Off Periods

Need a break without permanently closing your account? A cooling-off period suspends your account for a set time — 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, or 30 days. During this time, you cannot log in, deposit, or place bets.

Self-Exclusion

Self-exclusion is a permanent suspension for a minimum period of your choosing — 6 months, 1 year, or indefinitely. Once active, it cannot be reversed for the minimum duration. w4lyf will not market to or solicit self-excluded players.

Loss Limits

Set the maximum net loss you're comfortable with over a day, week, or month. Once your loss limit is reached, you'll be prompted to stop for that period. This keeps one bad session from snowballing into something bigger.

Activity History

Your w4lyf account keeps a full record of your deposit, withdrawal, and gaming history. Reviewing this regularly is one of the most practical ways to stay aware of how much time and money you're actually spending.

How to Set Up Your Responsible Gaming Tools

All tools are accessible from your account settings — no app required, no need to contact support first.

01

Log In to Your Account

Go to w4lyf.app and log in with your registered email and password. If you've forgotten your credentials, use the password reset option on the login page.

02

Open Account Settings

Click your username or profile icon in the top right corner. Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu to access all account management options.

03

Find the "Responsible Gaming" tab within your account settings. All available tools — deposit limits, session reminders, cooling-off, and self-exclusion — are listed here.

04

Quick Self-Assessment: Is Your Gaming Still Fun?

This isn't a diagnostic tool — it's just a way to pause and check in with yourself honestly. Most responsible gaming issues don't start with one big moment. They creep in gradually, which is why a regular check-in can be helpful.

Answer the questions on the right as honestly as you can. There are no right or wrong answers that affect your w4lyf account — this is just for you.

What This Is For

If you answer "Yes" to several of these questions, it doesn't mean you have a gambling problem — but it does mean it might be worth slowing down, setting a limit, or talking to someone you trust about your gaming habits.

Answer honestly — tap Yes or No for each:

Have you ever spent more on gaming than you originally planned to?
Have you ever chased losses — kept playing to try to win back money you lost?
Have you borrowed money or sold something to fund your gaming?
Has gaming affected your sleep, work, or time with family?
Have you tried to cut down on gaming but found it difficult?
Do you feel anxious, irritable, or restless when you're not able to play?
Have you hidden your gaming activity from family members or friends?

Signs That Gaming May Be Becoming a Problem

Problematic gaming usually develops gradually. These accordion items describe specific patterns worth being aware of — both in yourself and in people around you who game. Tap each one to read more.

Regularly spending more than you can afford; using money earmarked for bills, groceries, or the kids' allowance for gaming; borrowing from friends or family without telling them it's for gaming; or experiencing stress at the end of the month because of gaming-related spending. One overspend happens to everyone — a pattern of them is a signal worth taking seriously.

Hiding your gaming from your asawa, parents, or barkada; lying about how much you've won or lost; skipping family events or social plans to play; feeling irritated when interrupted during a gaming session; or finding that gaming is your primary source of excitement or emotional relief. Gaming that pushes relationships out of the way is gaming that's becoming too central.

Gaming during work hours on your phone; staying up until 3 or 4 in the morning to play and showing up tired the next day; missing deadlines or appointments because you were mid-session; or finding it difficult to concentrate at work because you're thinking about a game or a loss you need to recover.

Feeling the need to gamble to lift your mood or escape stress; feeling guilty, ashamed, or depressed after losing — but continuing anyway; experiencing emotional highs that only come from gambling wins; or finding that ordinary activities feel less satisfying compared to gaming. These emotional patterns, especially escalating ones, are worth paying attention to.

Constantly needing to bet larger amounts to feel the same excitement; returning to play immediately after a loss to "get it back"; telling yourself "one more session" repeatedly; or feeling like you can't stop mid-session even when you know you should. These escalation patterns are classic indicators that gaming is shifting from entertainment to compulsion.

10 Tips for Keeping Gaming Fun at w4lyf

These habits don't mean you have a problem — they're just good practice for anyone who games regularly. Think of them as the equivalent of wearing a seatbelt: a sensible precaution regardless of how good a driver you are.

01

Set a budget before you start

Decide the maximum you're comfortable losing — not winning — before you open the app. Treat it like an entertainment budget, not an investment.

02

Use the deposit limit feature

Setting a deposit limit on your w4lyf account removes the temptation to overspend in the moment. Set it when you're calm, not when you're mid-session.

03

Never chase losses

This is the single most common pattern that turns recreational gaming into problematic gaming. If you've hit your limit, stop — regardless of how the last session went.

04

Don't play when you're stressed or upset

Gaming when you're in a difficult emotional state often leads to impulsive decisions and overspending. It also rarely makes the original stress go away.

05

Balance gaming with other activities

If gaming is starting to be your main way of relaxing or spending free time, that's worth noticing. Healthy gaming fits into a life that has other sources of enjoyment too.

06

Check your activity history regularly

Your w4lyf account shows your full transaction and gaming history. Reviewing it honestly — even once a month — keeps you grounded in what you're actually spending.

07

Accept that losses are part of the game

All games have a house edge. Understanding this helps set realistic expectations — you're paying for entertainment, not running a side business.

08

Take breaks during long sessions

Use the session time reminder feature or simply set a timer on your phone. Step away, get some water, move around. A short break often provides useful perspective.

09

Be honest with yourself

If you find yourself rationalising overspending, hiding your gaming activity, or feeling like you can't stop — those are signals worth taking seriously, not dismissing.

10

Reach out if you need to

Talking to someone about gambling concerns — whether support@w4lyf.app, a friend, or a counsellor — is a sign of self-awareness, not weakness. We're here anytime.

Underage Gaming Prevention

w4lyf is strictly for adults aged 21 and above. Our age verification process is in place from the moment you register — and it is not something we compromise on.

If you share a device with younger members of your household, we strongly encourage you to:

  • Log out of your w4lyf account after every session.
  • Never save your login credentials on a shared device.
  • Use device-level parental controls to restrict access to gaming sites when children are using the device.
  • Keep your w4lyf password private — do not share it with anyone, including older teenage family members.

If you suspect that a minor has accessed a w4lyf account — whether yours or otherwise — please contact us at support@w4lyf.app immediately. We take these reports seriously and act on them promptly.

What w4lyf Pledges on Responsible Gaming

These are operational commitments — not aspirational statements — that govern how w4lyf handles responsible gaming across the platform:

  • w4lyf will never market to players who are self-excluded, under a cooling-off period, or who have set deposit limits. None. No emails, no push notifications, no re-engagement campaigns.
  • Responsible gaming tools will always be accessible from account settings without requiring support contact or approval.
  • Deposit limit reductions take effect immediately, with no cooling-off period on the reduction itself.
  • Players showing patterns consistent with problematic gaming may be proactively contacted by our responsible gaming team with support resources — not with promotions.
  • All w4lyf staff who interact with players receive training on recognising and responding to signs of gambling harm.
  • Self-exclusion requests are honoured without question and without requiring a reason.
